Drying time is a very common question that we are asked on almost every call. On average I see dry times between 4 hours to 6 hours. Drying time depends on the soiling level, weather, indoor humidity, ceiling fans, water temperature, and foot traffic.

In my own home when I run the ceiling fans and the AC is set to 72 degrees I see about a 1-2 hour drying time. This has a lot to do with the soiling level in my home is minimal and the carpets are vacuumed at least once per week.

Heavily soiled carpet can take 6-8 hours just depending on how much water needs to be used to properly rinse the carpet. When we clean carpet we clean at 220 degrees. The temperature of the water is an important factor in the drying time of carpet. Other inferior cleaners with poor quality equipment clean at much lower temperatures which causes their dry times to be much longer.

The reason I suggest this is because as the seasons change the allergens change. Rinsing your carpet once a season helps remove the allergens from the carpet to prep for the next season change.

When it comes to removing stains from carpet, it is always best to get to the stain while its fresh so that its as simple as possible to remove. This is how we recommend to remove a coffee stain from the carpet that are fresh or dried.

What To Do When The Coffee Stain Is Still Fresh

Always remember to work from the outside of the coffee stain and into the middle of the stain. Take a white terry cloth and blot the stain, I’m particularly fond of using a shop vac vs a towel for quicker removal. Keep blotting or extracting the stain until no more of the stain transfers to the towel. Pour some cold water onto the stained area and extract or continue to blot up the water. You may need to do this several times, but be sure not to over wet the carpet. Once you have removed the contaminates treat the area with a carpet spotter, Amazing Rinse Free Spot All by Pro’s Choice is a must for every household.

What To Do If The Coffee Stain Has Dried

You’re going to want to clean the coffee stained area thoroughly to remove as much contamination as possible. I recommend using Amazing and a little bit of water with either a shop vac or a white towel. After the area is rinsed clean take Stain 1 and apply it liberally to the carpet fibers. I would use a trigger sprayer to apply Stain 1 and walk away. Allow the product to dwell, the coffee stain should disappear immediately or after several hours.

Tips and Cautions:
Always blot or extract dry fibers to be treated before application of Stain 1
To improve Stain 1 Performance cover treated fibers with clear plastic
Always test for color fastness before using

How To Remove A Vomit Stain and Odors From Carpet

Vomit Stains are right up there as one of the worst odors and stains to remove from your Carpet. The smell of vomit alone is gag inducing. But if you catch it right away you can prevent the vomit stain and odor from soaking into the carpet.

Remove Vomit As Quickly As Possible

Ok so you’re going to want to remove the vomit from the floor as soon as possible. Personally I prefer the use of a Shopvac when it comes to dealing with bodily fluids. I recommend removing your filter from your Shopvac and of course hosing off the waste tank after each use.

After you have removed the vomit chunks from the floor apply cold water to the floor and let it sit for 30 seconds. Then, extract the stain with your shopvac. If the stain is still present treat the stain with an enzyme or carpet spotter. I prefer using either Kemzyme or PC-45 for further stain treatment.

How To Remove An Old Vomit stain From Your Carpet

Tools Required: Shopvac and a Terry Towel

Chemicals Required: Kemzyme (Enzyme Spotter) And Stain 1

Mix Your Kemzyme 4 Parts Water and 1 Part Kemzyme
Apply Kemzyme to the vomit stain and make sure the fibers are wet
Gently agitate the fibers with a terry cloth to help break down the stain. Allow about 30 minutes of dwell time to allow the enzymes to work.
Wet the fibers with cold water and extract the area thoroughly with a Shopvac getting the carpet as dry as possible (Carpet Cleaning Professionals use Hot Water Extraction during this step)
When the spot is dry vacuum very thoroughly
If stain reappears after drying treat the vomit stain with Stain 1

Which Vomit Stain Remover Is Best?

I recommend using Kemzyme over most Enzymes on the market due to the concentrated nature, the amount of live enzymes, and the pleasant scent. Kemzyme is also pH neutral which makes it suitable for use on most carpet.

Be sure you test any products you use in an inconspicuous area to be sure it doesn’t affect the color of the carpet.
