5 Things To Do Before You Put Your Home On The Market

There are so many things to do when even thinking about putting your home on the market. De-cluttering is huge! But cleaning is a much bigger deal than so many of the other projects out there.

Here are 5 Things To Do Before You Put Your Home On The Market

Carpet Cleaning

I always recommend having the carpet cleaned prior to putting your home on the market. A clean and fresh smelling carpet will help your home sell faster and potential prevent the need to give a carpet allowance. At a minimum having the carpet cleaned beforehand will help present your home in a better light.

Tile and Grout Cleaning

Removing the dirt and build up from your tile and grout with a thorough cleaning helps to brighten your home. A lot of sellers miss this crucial detail when they begin to consider selling their home. Presenting your home with the absolute cleanest tile and grout will go a long way with potential buyers. The kitchen and master bathroom are the areas that buyers pay the most attention to, be sure to spruce up these areas as much as possible prior to selling.

Shower Cleaning and Caulking

I’ve seen many buyers turned off by a dirty shower. Let’s face it, soap scum, Mildew, and dirty grout happen. Having your Shower Tile and Grout Professionally Steam Cleaned and the Shower Re-Caulked is shockingly important to potential buyers. Don’t let your shower kill the sale of your home.

Carpet Stretching and Repair

Overtime wrinkles and rips in your carpet can happen. Having these wrinkles and rips fixed prior to putting your home on the market can save a potential carpet replacement or allowance to a buyer. Most buyers want to have a move in ready home vs a fixer upper. Having the little details in your home taken care of Before you put your home on the market will go a long way in selling your home quickly.

Pressure Washing

A dirty driveway, entrance, patio, or even mold and mildew on and around your home can substantially affect anyone even wanting to go view your home. Be sure to have these areas professionally pressure washed so that the curb appeal of your home is the absolute best it can possibly be.

How To Prevent Mildew On Outside Of House

Let me guess, the North side of your house is starting to grow some nasty black or green stuff on it. This is absolutely common and the prevention of it is simple.

Here’s How To Prevent Mildew On Outside Of House

Annual Soft Washing Maintenance! Look, the North side of your home is always going to attract mildew but if you wash this section annually it is far less likely for the problem to develop and spread. I highly recommend consistent maintenance when it comes to the exterior of your home.

What Is Soft Washing?

Soft Washing is a better and safer way to clean the outside of your home. It employs a disinfectant that attacks the mildew and removes it from the surface it was attached to.

This is a much different, safer, and more effective method than Pressure Washing. In fact, I have seen many homeowners employ the use of Pressure Washing on their siding and they totally draw doodles on their house.

Why Should You Hire A Professional?

Bottom line, Soft Washing and Pressure Washing Equipment can be very dangerous in the wrong hands. Beyond that the Home Owner versions that you can pick up in Home Depot simply don’t do the job nearly as well as the equipment a professional uses to complete the job.

At UpFront Home Services we provide Professional Pressure Washing Services In Katy and the entire Houston area! Check out our Pressure Washing and Soft Washing Service Here

Pressure Wash Driveway- How To Pressure Wash A Driveway

It’s not fun, it’s not easy, but you can make a huge difference when you Pressure Wash your Driveway.

This is a quick step by step guide on How To Pressure Wash A Driveway.

Debris Removal

Step 1) Blow or sweep away any debris that are on the Driveway. To Pressure Wash a Driveway you must remove the debris that could get in the way of the chemicals and the water pressure from pressure washing machine. This is important because you could end up with an uneven clean.

Pre-Treatment

Step 2) Apply your Driveway Cleaner of choice. When applying your cleaner always follow the instructions on the bottle. I like to apply a thick layer of product and allow a little bit of dwell time, usually a couple minutes. My recommendation for you is to work in sections and only pre-treat one section to clean at a time.

Set The Proper Pressure For Your Pressure Washer

Step 3) Setting the proper pressure for your machine is very important. If the pressure is to high you could damage the concrete and if its too low you could do a poor quality job. I recommend setting your unit anywhere between 2,500 psi to 3,000 psi.

Selecting The Proper Tool and Tips

Step 4) I prefer using a Spinning Pressure Washing tool to Pressure Wash a Driveway. This type of spinner tool costs roughly $600-$800. Your average DIY Pressure Washing Machine will come with just a wand and some tips. I tend to use the Green Tip for the hand wand for Driveway Pressure Washing.

Start To Pressure Wash Driveway

Step 5) Pressure Wash The Driveway. Go Slowly and take your time, moving too fast will make your driveway look streaky. Driveway Pressure Washing usually takes a professional about an hour to complete depending on the size of the Driveway. For a homeowner with smaller equipment it could take several hours to complete, so be patient and take your time.

Rinse The Driveway

Step 6) Rinse away the dirty water. Once you have Pressure Washed the driveway you will need to do a last step rinse. Go to the top of the driveway and rinse your way down. This will leave the driveway looking its best and will remove the extra debris that loosened when pressure washing.
